The spring season is in full force and kids are enjoying the nice weather and being outside. I know back in the day, I would be in the middle of my baseball season and soccer on the side. I also know this time of year also brings tryouts for different teams. Tryouts can bring about a lot of nerves and question. Don’t let it!

It’s ok to be nervous for anything, especially tryouts – but don’t let the mere fact that it is a tryout make you question yourself. No matter what sport, you still have to do what you have been doing already in your season and in your young lives. Be yourself and work hard. If you give all you have, you can’t ever fail (so with that tidbit you will always succeed!).

I will give you a couple of things that may help you calm down the nerves or any self doubts that come into your head.

Have FUN

Focus on your strengths

Be yourself

Work hard

Focus and refocus- mistakes will happen, just get over them and move on!

Be proud

As you head out to your tryouts or practice, believe in yourself and hold your head high!

Good luck to you young people today and know someone right here believes in you!

Always Believe,

Kristine

As soccer coaches know, teaching defensive principles is not an easy task. Watch as Coach Gentile reviews activities you can use to simplify teaching “D” to your youth soccer players.

In this video, you will learn jow to simplify teaching “D”

• Roles of defenders, what makes sense to players?

• Decide on terminology and expectations.

• Use many activities over multiple practices to get your point across.

• Repetition creates Routine. Routine is the door way to GOOD HABITS!

Enjoy and play strong!

With springtime, many of us have children outside competing hard in baseball, soccer, and all kinds of athletic activities. Sports are great for keeping kids healthy, but it’s important to be aware of potential injuries. Are we specializing too early?

Hilary Benson from Parent Map joined KING5 in studio to talk about the increasing number of young athletes who are getting hurt.

Launch of “Girls Soccer: Dream, Believe, Achieve”.

Kristine Lilly, two time FIFA World Cup champion and two time Olympic gold medalist and Coerver® Coaching, the world’s number one soccer skills teaching method, launch their new Ebook, “Girls Soccer: Dream, Believe, Achieve”.

“Girls Soccer: Dream, Believe, Achieve” is unique. It is the only Ebook of its kind, teaching girls soccer and life skills through the inspirational story of one of soccer’s all-time greats.

The Ebook will raise awareness for Girls soccer worldwide and become the authority on coaching Girls soccer and life skills.

The book uses a mixture of HD video, illustrations, text and the Coerver® System to teach coaches, parents and players. It includes:

 Kristine’s inspirational story of a successful woman and champion

 Kristine’s life and soccer coaching tips for girls

 Coerver® Coaching and Kristine’s essential practices for coaches of girls

What others are saying…

“This is unbelievable. The fact that you can have this on any sort of device and you can bring it to a practice, it’s absolutely extraordinary stuff. I think, unquestionably for our generation, this is the future.” Anson Dorrance, World Cup Champion Coach

“It’s a great concept, I think it is good for everyone” Tony DiCicco, World Cup Champion Coach

“For coaches, it’s fantastic. The Coerver brand is a wonderful brand. It’s a great way to become more technical and become more creative with the ball, and to have a role model like you (Kristine Lilly), handling this, I think is phenomenal.”Tony DiCicco, World Cup Champion Coach

“It’s so user friendly that anyone can use it. You don’t need a clipboard anymore, that’s the great thing about the ipad, it is all right there on the field with you.”Julie Foudy, World Cup and Olympic Champion

Coerver® Coaching co-founder and Chelsea legend Charlie Cooke said, “We are working closely with Kristine to help develop the next generation of skilful female players and coaches globally. Kristine’s playing career is second to none in world soccer and her insights and life lessons are sure to help all players and coaches”.

Kristine Lilly said ”I have been using the Coerver method since I was a really young player. It certainly helped me in my career and I strongly believe it’s the best way to coach players.

I believe “Girls Soccer: Dream, Believe, Achieve” will help female players improve their life and soccer skills.”

Korrio partners with Seattle FC Youth Program to deliver cutting-edge sports automation

We all know how big soccer is in Seattle! Over 6,000 athletes, ages 4-15 train under the Sounders FC Youth program – WOW! That speaks volumes for their geographic market and loyal following. Sounders FC’s previous registration software was so basic that they jumped at the opportunity to bring a cutting-edge sports automation solution that can take their organization into the future. Factors included in their decision to move to Korrio were user interface, ability to communicate easily and decreasing administrative time on the back end.

Korrio helps the Sounders FC manage over 65 camps during the summer, spring break and youth development clinics year round. The Sounders FC youth program data needs to be concise and organized to manage schedules for busy families on the go with. Korrio makes sure everyone knows designated field for event, driving directions, weather and reminders. If there is a last minute change, alerts are sent via text, email or phone.

Michael Morris, Youth Program Manager said, “The on-boarding process was easy! The Korrio team was with us the entire way. We also enjoy the web functionality and easy customization, which provides us a ton of value for retail ticket promotion. ”

Having one of the largest MLS programs in the country, the Sounders provide proven curriculum and coaching handbooks to their coaching staff. Plus, every activity they run has a visit from the 1st team. That’s right, a pro player visits the young athletes at every event for autographs and questions. They even offer a camper appreciation where the kids are invited to CenturyLink field to watch a private practice and get autographs from some of their favorite players after training session is complete. A program clearly focused around role models and a high level of play.

“What I also like is that new feature requests don’t fall on deaf ears – I know Korrio is listening and my feedback helps drive new features and functionality – which happen at a nice pace, I may add.”
