As a parent, I have recently dealt with an injury that took my daughter out of competitive soccer for a couple of months. Its tough both physically and emotionaly. I piece of advice we received was that “rest is part of training”, which made the realization a bit easer to digest. You certainly have to maintain a positive attitude and this article speaks about how “Your self-talk is important”. I agree! You have to keep positive and focused, while doing the right things – and in most cases, the athlete is stronger post injury (in many ways).
